Custom oak & steel staircase installation.

To replace the existing staircase, I designed and installed a custom steel stringer with solid wood treads. This combination of industrial-strength steel and natural wood creates a staircase that is both sturdy and visually appealing.

The new staircase adds a unique focal point to the room, blending seamlessly with the modern style of the space. It serves as a practical upgrade that elevates the overall look and feel of the fitness room.

Concrete floor restoration and enhancement.

The original concrete slab presented challenges due to its unexpectedly soft composition, which prevented it from grinding down smoothly. To address this, I applied a specialty cement surfacing product to repair and level the floor, creating a stable and even base.

Once the base was prepared, I used a densifier to strengthen the concrete and applied a tint to ensure consistent color across the floor. Finally, two coats of Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek 8505 sealer provided a low-gloss finish that enhances durability and gives the slab a polished, professional appearance.

Lighting and ceiling upgrades

For improved lighting, I replaced the existing bare-bulb fixtures with nine recessed LED lights. These lights are dimmable and color-selectable, offering flexibility to adjust the brightness and ambiance as needed.

The ceiling required extensive repairs, including a full Level 4 drywall finish to achieve a smooth, seamless look. I then primed and painted the ceiling in flat white, creating a clean and bright environment. The walls were coated with an oil-based paint provided by the client for added durability and a cohesive finish.

Structural modifications and custom wood beams

To accommodate new ductwork, I began by demolishing sections of the concrete slab and opening up the drywall ceiling for access to existing HVAC vents. Once the ductwork was in place, I built two matching wood beams from pine, designed to wrap around the drop beam and conceal the ducts.

Each beam was finished with boiled linseed oil, which enhances the natural wood grain and provides a subtle, warm tone. I carefully positioned the beams to ensure alignment with the room’s architectural features, creating a cohesive and polished look. Additionally, I repaired a section of the concrete slab with concrete anchors and a smooth trowel finish for added stability.

Expertise in custom renovations and finishes

With skills in custom fabrications, concrete polishing, and quality finishes, I specialize in transforming spaces to meet specific needs. My work combines functionality with design, ensuring each project is both resilient and visually appealing.
